3 skin care tips to prepare for the holidays
The holidays are quickly approaching. Any big plans? Parties? Celebrations?
It’s not too late to make sure you’re looking and feeling your absolute best when you’re hanging out with friends, family, and, of course, that special someone.
Here are three great ways to prepare for your holiday get-togethers this fall and winter.
Skin care tip #1: Hydrate well.
Does drinking water really result in hydrated skin? According to a report by the Mayo Clinic, probably not.
While it is true that the outermost layer of your skin—your epidermis—requires hydration to stay smooth and retain its elasticity, “there’s a lack of research showing that drinking extra water has any impact on skin hydration or appearance.”
So if you’ve got dry skin, drinking a ton of water might not be the best solution (although drinking water is definitely beneficial to your general health). Instead, try these hydration techniques:
Exfoliate regularly.
We recommend exfoliating up to twice per week. Look for products that contain glycolic acids, such as Glytone Mini Peel Gel. This will plump your skin and prevent it from getting dry.
Use a humidifier.
We all know that the air gets super dry during the winter, but not everyone uses a humidifier to keep their skin hydrated. Running a humidifier overnight while you sleep is usually the way to go, but you can run a two- to three-gallon humidifier for up to 16 hours.
Moisturize often.
First thing’s first: Washing your face before bed (with cool water) is essential to a radiant complexion. After that, make sure you moisturize. We recommend Avène Hydrance Aqua-Gel, which you can find at our Skin Center.

Skin care tip #2: Consider Botox or Dysport.
Frown lines. Forehead lines. Crow’s feet. These common problem areas are bothersome to millions of people in the United States alone. Fortunately, Botox and Dysport are two FDA-approved procedures that reduce facial lines and wrinkles quickly and easily.

Skin care tip #3: Have you ever had a chemical peel?
Chemical peels exfoliate damaged or dead skin cells. At the same time, they rebuild collagen and stimulate the growth of healthier skin. With little to no downtime, a chemical peel can:
- Decrease fine lines, wrinkles, and signs of premature aging
- Reduce clogged pores, surface oil, acne blemishes, and breakouts
- Even out skin tone and improve skin texture
- Decrease mild to moderate hyperpigmentation for a brighter appearance
- Increase skin firmness and decrease dark circles around the eyes
