Permanent Makeup: What to expect
Simplify your beauty routine and take out the guesswork of perfect brows and lips with Permanent Makeup; our newest service.
We now offer the application of Permanent Makeup using Nano Technololgy. Nano Technology uses very fine needles, which allows for more precise and natural-looking results. This technique is also less painful than microblading, as the smaller needles cause less trauma to the skin.
Ready to start your permanent makeup journey with our licensed artist? Here’s what you need to know:
Step 1: Consultation
Spend about 30 minutes with a licensed artist to understand your permanent makeup goals. During this time you’ll also review your medical history to make sure you are a good candidate and are healthy enough for treatment.
At your consultation you’ll also go over some pre-procedure do’s and don’ts including:
- Avoiding sun exposure two weeks before and after your treatment (including tanning beds AND sunless tanner)
- Waiting at least six weeks between any Botox® (or similar product) or facial filler treatments and your first appointment for permanent makeup
- Stopping Omega 3’s/Fish Oils one week prior to your appointment
Not sure if you’re a great candidate? Nano Technology works on all skin tones and most skin types. It is great for people that already have full brows and lips or who have nothing at all.
Step 2: Your First Appointment
When you arrive for your first appointment, your artist will take ‘before photos’ of your brows or lips. From there you’ll start the color matching process to make sure the makeup complements the tone and undertones of your skin.
For brows: You’ll discuss what style of brow you would like to achieve. Options include: hair strokes (a more natural fluffy look), powder brows (a more solid fuller look) or combination brows which use both techniques.
For lips: You’ll talk about your goals for color saturation, and whether or not you’re looking to create the appearance of fuller lips.
With the color and shape determined, your artist will then begin to map out your face using a chalked string to take precise measurements. These measurements allow the artist to determine the shape and placement of the tattoo, which is unique to each individual person.
With the color, size, and shape set, the tattooing process begins! This includes numbing and several passes over the brows/lips to achieve the best saturation and color. From start to finish, this appointment will take approximately three hours.
Step 3: After Care
After the procedure you’ll get specific instructions on how to care for the treated area including how to keep your new brows or lips clean and hydrated.
Both procedures have a recovery time that requires special care and attention for up to 10 days. We recommend scheduling your appointment at least two weeks prior to any major events.
It is normal to have some scabbing or peeling, and the treated area may appear patchy as things heal over the first seven days.
Step 4: Follow-up Appointment
After your new brows and lips are completed and healed, we’ll have you in for a six week follow-up appointment to fine tune your custom new look!
Recovery after your second appointment is just as important. Proper hydration is a key factor in healing properly and achieving the best results.
And just like that, you’ve got a custom look that is totally you. Enjoy this new look for up to three years. Get peace of mind booking your Nano Brows and Lips at The Skin Center at Southgate Medical Group. Click the button below!
