The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of Tattoos
Tattoos can be works of art. However, some don’t stand the test of time, others are doomed from the start.
Poorly done artwork? Misspelled words? Maybe your lifestyle or career has changed and now you’re thinking twice about your tattoo.
The good news is that tattoos can be removed. That work of art that you thought you were stuck with forever, can be a thing of the past, thanks to our advanced laser tattoo removal method.
Our laser tattoo removal technology
At The Skin Center at Southgate Medical Group, we use Enlighten, the premier solution for tattoo removal. It’s an advanced laser system that uses picosecond lasers to remove tattoos safely and effectively.
A picosecond is measured at one-trillionth of a second. That’s 1,000 times faster (or shorter) than a nanosecond, which is the standard speed of traditional laser tattoo removal systems.
These faster and more efficient technologies feature dual pulse durations and various wavelengths that “shatter” ink particles without causing damage to the surrounding tissue.
The best part? The Enlighten process takes far fewer treatments than traditional laser removal processes.
The treatment
The total number of treatments will, of course, really depend on the age of the tattoo, color, location, and how deep the ink is. Your specialist can give you a better estimate after your first consultation.
Tips to prepare for your treatment
Once you meet with our team and have your treatment date(s) lined up, you’ll want to follow these guidelines to make sure your treatment is successful!
- Hydrate!
- Prep the area by shaving and keeping it clean. Avoid any lotion, cosmetics, or perfumes in the area to be treated.
- Stock up on sunscreen, better yet, plan to avoid the sun if possible.
- Plan to wear loose fitting clothing to avoid irritation after treatment.
A change of heart is the number one reason our clients come to us for laser tattoo removal. Don’t let any feeling of remorse stop you from feeling comfortable in your own skin.
