The SKINterview! A skin care conversation with Kelley M. Paolini, MS, LPN, CAC, CLT
Kelley M. Paolini is a licensed practical nurse, certified laser technician, and skin care expert at The Skin Center at Southgate Medical Group.
Her specialty? CoolSculpting! Did we mention that she’s also a health psychologist?
More than that, she’s a happily married mother of two girls, loves shopping, and traveling.
Here at The Skin Center, we got a chance to sit down with Kelley to ask her what skin care perspectives, trends, and goals mean the most to patients.
In our latest SKINterview, Kelley’s leveraging her medical expertise, positive energy, and next-level customer care to answer critical skin care questions.
Here’s what she has to say and how she can help YOU achieve ALL your skin care goals.
Which new technology are you most excited about for patients to experience at The Skin Center? Why?
I would say the SkinPen because there are many benefits to it! It can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment is versatile. It can be used on the face, neck, and chest safely. Plus—and this may be the best part—it is completely natural, with no chemicals or foreign solutions being injected into the body!
What is your most memorable patient interaction? What was their goal, how did you achieve it, and what was their response?
My most memorable experience was with a patient who was suffering from severe acne. He was very self-conscious, and he often expressed not wanting to attend school or ask any girls out as he was too embarrassed.
So we created a treatment plan that was tailored specifically to him: We used our Glytone acne line—alternating monthly with microderms and chemical peels—to really target his problem areas.
Within six months, his skin looked fantastic. He expressed to us he had his confidence back, and he even asked a girl from his school to prom—and she said yes!
Why should a patient choose a medical setting like The Skin Center over a spa-like setting?
At a medical center, we are all trained medical professionals. We place our patients at the center of their care, and we work with them to create the best possible plan for the results they are looking to acquire.
As medical professionals, we can also access your medical background to make sure that the treatments you are receiving are safe and effective alongside any current and or chronic medical conditions you may have.
What are the most popular products, treatments, or services right now? What are people trying to achieve?
The most popular service right now is treating sun damage. Patients are trying to restore that youthful healthy look to reverse time! They want to feel good about themselves and age gracefully.
The nice thing about our services is that there is very minimal downtime, so a patient can walk in, have treatment, and leave ready to go out with their friends—and their secret is safe with us!
There’s laser hair removal and laser tattoo removal. What’s the biggest difference between these technologies?
These technologies offer different treatments.
The Enlighten Tattoo Removal is the most advanced laser system for effectively removing tattoos and benign pigmented lesions. The Enlighten machine uses extremely short, high-power picosecond laser pulses that quickly break down the ink particles in tattoos and brown pigments in sun spots.
SPLENDOR X from Lumenis is a binary laser of Nd:YAG (1064nm) and Alexandrite (755nm) wavelengths with synchronized and adjustable proportions. This system lets us customize hair and spider vein removal treatments for our patients!
